When second and third generation immigrants do not respect a society’s rules, it might be a society’s lack of respect for itself, more than who is allowed in.
I agree; the US has some positive aspiration ideas that hold it together; we have a snotty, no, I'm not American, nonsense. In the Netherlands, a big part of the problem is that they simply don't learn Dutch and don't try, and then the second generation inherits the bitterness of the first, even if they learn Dutch.
